Bransholme is an Place and a housing estate upon the north side of Kingston on Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The read out Bransholme comes from an outmoded Scandinavian word meaning Brand’s water meadow (brand or brandt meant ‘wild boar’).
The largely council owned house is located in with Sutton-on-Hull to the east, Sutton Park to the south, and Kingswood to the west. It is along with fields and ‘A’ Roads which largely make unfriendly it from the in flames of East Hull.
There are two high, or subsidiary schools, Winifred Holtby Academy and Kingswood Academy, within the environs of Bransholme, these are fed by a number of primary schools.
There are two major retail centres manageable within the area. These are North Point Shopping Centre, formerly and yet locally known as Bransholme Centre, a location where a number of smaller shops can be found as with ease as a covered market, and Kingswood Retail Park, which is the site of a number of large major stores as capably as an entertainment area including a multiscreen cinema, bowling pathway and restaurants. At the 2011 census Bransholme was made in the works of the Bransholme East and West Wards and the gather together population was 18,533.
History
Bransholme history goes at least as far back up as the Domesday Book of 1086 where Bransholme is marked as a little hill amid water. At this become old the pact known as Sudtone (now Sutton) occupied a strip of high ground forming a connecting join between Wagene (later Waghen after that Wawne). An ancient highway ran through Wagene across Sudtone and through to Bilton.
