Halesowen ( haylz-OH-in) is a shout out town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the county of West Midlands, England.
Historically an exclave of Shropshire and, from 1844, in Worcestershire, the town is nearly 7 miles (11Â km) from Birmingham city centre, and 6 miles (10Â km) from Dudley town centre. The population of the town, as measured by the United Kingdom Census 2011, was 58,135. Halesowen is included in the Halesowen and Rowley Regis constituency which is held by the Conservative James Morris.
Geography and administration
Halesowen was a detached allocation of the county of Shropshire but was incorporated into Worcestershire in 1844 by the Counties (Detached Parts) Act. Since the local presidency reorganisation of 1974 it has formed a allocation of the West Midlands Metropolitan county and Conurbation, in the Dudley Metropolitan Borough, which it allied at the thesame time as neighbouring Stourbridge, which had in addition to been in Worcestershire until that point.
Halesowen borders the Birmingham suburbs of Quinton and Bartley Green to the east. To the south is Romsley and Worcestershire, to the north is Cradley Heath and to the west is Stourbridge.
