Callahan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,708. Its county seat is Baird. The county was founded in 1858 and far along organized in 1877. It is named for James Hughes Callahan, an American soldier in the Texas Revolution. Callahan County is included in the Abilene, Texas metropolitan statistical area.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total Place of 901 square miles (2,330 km), of which 899 sq mi (2,330 km2) are estate and 1.9 sq mi (4.9 km) (0.2%) are covered by water.
