Kenosha ( kษ™-NO-shษ™) is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the chair of Kenosha County. Per the 2020 census, the population was 99,986 which made it the fourth-largest city in Wisconsin. Situated on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, Kenosha is a satellite city within the greater Chicago metropolitan area as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Kenosha is located roughly halfway surrounded by Chicago and Milwaukee, and Interstate 94 connects Kenosha to both metropolitan areas.

Kenosha was subsequent to a center of industrial activity; it was house to large automotive factories which fueled its economy during the 20th century. Like some supplementary Rust Belt cities, Kenosha aimless these factories in the 1980s, causing it to gradually transition into a services-based economy. In the 2010s, the city and surrounding county have benefited from an expanding economy and increased job growth. It is house to the headquarters of the Fortune 1000 tool manufacturer Snap-on Inc., as well as the clothing company Jockey International. Kenosha is house to multiple researcher institutions including the University of Wisconsinโ€“Parkside, Herzing University, Carthage College, and Gateway Technical College. Residents of the city are called Kenoshans.

The Potawatomi originally named the area Kenozia (also transcribed ginoozhe, kinoje) “place of the pike”, while the Menominee referred to the place as Kenลซsฤซw, meaning “Northern Pike”. The in the future Ojibwa publish is reported as Masu-kinoja “trout (pike) come anything at once”.
